From: Jacob Lindsay <jacobmakesnoise@-----.com> Subj: [kl] Standing Peg for Contrabass Clarinet Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2007 13:29:52 -0400
I've got one of the Leblance straight model contrabass
clarinets. It comes with two pegs, a short one for
use when sitting on a stool, and a long one for use
when standing. These days I find myself wanting to
stand with it more (gives me better grounding for
dealing with this monster of an instrument) but the
long peg in standing position is a bit precarious. It
is not very supportive and in fact has started to
strip a bit, causing some slippage problems. Has
anyone encountered similar problems?
I've contacted Leblanc about ordering a replacement
peg, but have heard nothing back and am not holding my
breath.
A couple other options I have considered:
1) Attaching a clamp underneath the peg screw to
prevent slippage.
2) Having a new (more suportive) peg custom made,
perhaps by someone who makes drum stands or something.
Any suggestions?
