hi -
here's my two cents.
i think fancy, expensive ligatures are are a scam.
for years now i've used 2 pieces of 2 sided velcroe that you
can get in any hardware store- 5 pieces for about $2.
they are about 5 incles long and a half inch wide.
they are made to loop around things to keep them together.

you make a circle which is just a tiny bit smaller than where it
ends up around the mouthpiece and reed. That way you have
to pull down on it a little to get it to its final spot and it holds the
reed down with just the right amount of pressure.

the velcroe ring never needs adjusting once you have it right.
you just slip it on and off, never having to touch a screw. Its like
the old string ligatures with none of the hassle.

i have a velcroe ring ligature for each of my saxes and clarinets.
i would match them against any ligature on the market.
