Bob, how did it help you with the contrabassoon question, except
to show that there is not the slightest hint in the manuscript
that he might have wanted to use one. The fact that two of the
seven movements call for pizzicato is proof enough of his
preference for the string and not the wind bass.

Are you still not convinced about the missing measure of the
adagio part of the 5th movement?

This is the reprint of Mozart's manuscipt, which is as clear and
legible as
one could ask. SInce it is indeed out of print, I bought this
reprint from
a used music book specialist in NYC 5 years ago. Cost me $225.
Worth every
penny to have it next to me at rehearsals, especially regarding
the use of
contrabassoon and the missing measure in the Adagio.
