Fred Ormand does have both the string quintet and full orchestral versions
of "Il Convegno". The string version is for purchase, and I've used it with
a full string orchestra effectively. In fact, I like it better that the full
orchestra version, since it does not over-power the soloists. I think this
was the version used on the Eddie Daniels/Larry Combs recent CD (Fred?).

He does teach at the Univ. of Michigan
