What is sometimes done is to coat the inside of the top of the C
clarinet's barrel with nail polish.
One advantage to doing this is that it is undoable.
If you ever change to a mouthpiece that is too tight on the C
clarinet you can remove some or all of the nail polish with nail
polish remover.
