I finally got around to listening to the music cited, and I'm
flabbergasted! As a long time performer of Balkan music (mostly for local
folk dancers), I've always known of Tale Ognenovski's recordings. He's a
legend of Balkan music, with wonderful style and excellent technique. He
was the director of the state-sponsored radio ensemble for many years.

I agree with all the other posters, that the excerpt is truly awful. So
what's going on? This has absolutely nothing in common with the Ognenovski
music I know. All I can think is that someone has broken into their web
site and replaced the recordings with a joke. Trust me: that's not Tale.
