This is really sad and upsetting news. I only came to know Thea personally
this last year and she was a charming, friendly and extremely helpful person
with a wealth of knowledge to share. She inspired me to do my best and
encouraged me through my course this year. She will be missed greatly.

Members will probably have heard of the sad death of Dame Thea King.
A good summary of her career is published in today's edition of The
Independent. Apupil of Frederick (Jack) Thurston she made many
recordings and also taught most of the leading British clarinettists.
