Basically the harder the surface, the brighter the sound will be (ie wood is
a more mellow sound than tile or cement and will have more of a reflection
than carpet). Depending on the size of the room, you're probably not going
to hear a massive difference between hardwood and bamboo, but laminates will
be considerably brighter and more "live". Also, if you take a good wood
surface and cover it with a heavy coat of a polyurethane varnish, you'll
make it brighter sounding.

There is a lot more to acoustics of a space than just the floor material.
What is on your walls? How about the ceiling? Do you have parallel walls
or asymmetric ones?
