The Mark Rogers concert band arrangement of Hoe Down from Copland's
"Rodeo" is in concert D, which puts the Bb clarinets in the key of E.
That turns the Hoe Down melody into a study in break-crossing
finger-twisting, alternating little-finger gymnastics above the break
with throat tone side-key gymnastics below the break. I consider myself
moderately talented, but there's no way I can play this reliably until
it becomes muscle memory.

If the orchestral original was in concert D, I assume that it must have
been scored for clarinets in A. That puts it in written F, where it
would be manageable.
