Dear Klarinet listers,

I'd like to take this opportunity to inform you of a new publication
for clarinet and organ which has just been published by E.C. Schirmer
Publishing of Boston. It's entitled Five Old American Songs for Clarinet
in B-flat and Organ by James Sclater, catalog # 6991. The selections
include When Jesus Wept, My Shepherd Will Supply My Need, Nobody knows
theTrouble I've Seen, Amazing Grace, and Walls of Zion.

Two of the movements, Amazing Grace and Nobody Knows the Trouble I've
Seen, are done with a New Orleans jazz flavor and have opportunities for
some improvisation. The movements are short enough to be done in a
church or concert setting (I've done them all in both a church service
and recital). One of the reasons for doing this set was to fill the need
for clarinet music which could be performed in a church setting. The
reaction to this work has been very positive indeed.

I hope you will give this a try. Thanks so much.

Jim Sclater,
Professor of Music,
Mississippi College
