Palisades Virtuosi Presents The Jazz Age Program on June 9, Featuring
World Premiere of New Work by Dick Hyman

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi will present
“The Jazz Age”, a program of chamber music premieres and masterworks on
Saturday, June 9 - 8:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113
Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

This final concert of the 2006-07 season will feature the World Premiere
of another Virtuosi commissioned work – Dick Hyman’s Parable. Mr. Hyman
will also perform at the concert. The Virtuosi will also present Six
Souvenirs for Two Flutes and One Piano by Robert Russell Bennett, Les
Treteaux for flute, alto saxophone & piano by Max Dubois, Concert Piece
#2 for clarinet & alto saxophone [originally for basset horn] by
Mendelssohn, Prelude No. 1 by Gershwin, Anderson St. Rag by the
Virtuosi’s own Ron Levy, Eine Kleine Abendmusik by Fred Messner (a 2006
Virtuosi commission) and other works by Copland and Scott Joplin. For

Special guests for this concert will be Lou Caimano, Alto Saxophone and
Janet Somers, flute.

In a growing catalogue of chamber music compositions, Dick Hyman’s most
recent pieces are Dances and Diversions for the Kinor String Quartet,
and Parable, for the Palisades Virtuosi. Earlier compositions include a
violin/piano sonata, a quintet for piano and strings, and a sextet for
clarinet, piano and strings. His concert compositions for orchestra
include his Piano Concerto, Ragtime Fantasy, The Longest Blues in the
World, and From Chama to Cumbres by Steam, a work for orchestra, jazz
combo, and prerecorded railroad sounds. A cantata based on the
autobiography of Mark Twain was premiered with the choral group, Gloria
Musicae, in Sarasota. Mr. Hyman has often been heard in duo-piano
performances with Derek Smith, in Three-Piano Crossover with Marian
McPartland and the late Ruth Laredo, and in various pops concerts under

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski,
clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3)
organization that was established to promote and enrich the repertoire
for flute, clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing
and newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration, supplemented
by solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists. Volume One of
