But there is a wonderful orchestral arrangement of one of the two
pieces and I believe it was done by Mendelssohn. There is an
orchestral of the other, but it is not by Mendellsohn.

One of the reasons why playing it on clarinet and basset horn is
so satisfying is that the father/son Baermann team played it that
way, and to have a piece as lovely as that with a family
connection for the solo parts is a real joy.

I agree with Gary about the Breitkopf edition. It's accurate and
easy to
read. Having the Basset horn part is a plus. I've done both the
Concertpieces many times, with Basset, two clarinets, bassoon and
cello. The
Basset horn version is the most satisfying to me, and must have
been for the
composer.

There is a terrible band arrangement of No. 1, filled with
errors. Avoid
like the Plague.

B&H is, indeed, Boozin' and Hawkish...... I generally use BundH
as an
abbreviation for Breitkopf und Hartel (sorry about the lack of an
umlaut,
I'm too lazy to find it).
