So, how many people predicted privately that Dan wouldn't go through with
selling off all his clarinets? If anyone set up a pool for that series of
events, probably the few willing to bet he'd go through with the sale
collected handsomely against long odds. I, for one, was astonished.

However, so many people won't be surprised by the message above that, if
anybody set up a betting pool on whether Dan would be hunting around for
clarinets again, less than a year later already, the odds were probably so
lousy that now, nobody stands to collect enough to cover even one pizza.

Moral of the story to all you future quitters out there: Don't sell the
instruments.

Corollary to ars longa, vita brevis: Music is long, too. Quitting is
shorter than life.

But seriously, congratulations, Dan, and welcome back to the eternal quest
for the perfect mouthpiece with that round, dark sound. ;-)
