My rant on the eepher can be found at
http://test.woodwind.org/Databases/Klarinet/2000/02/001050.txt.

I play on a Buffet R13, on a Greg Smith mouthpiece with a Chadash barrel and
a Clark Fobes lower joint extension. It works better than any other horn
that I've tried, and I *think* that I've tried out pretty much all that is
out there.

The Patricola and the Yamaha are both based on the Buffet design. I like
the keywork on the Yamaha - they've engineered it to feel more like a one of
the larger horns. It would likely be the one I'd purchase new today if I
was in the market, as their quality control is fantastic and the dollar-yen
conversion has them priced fairly reasonably at the moment. (Buffets appear
to have taken a fairly step increase in the street price lately as well).

Best of luck,

Kevin Fay

Subject: [kl] Eb Clarinet

Hello All:

I have a friend who has turned to me in her search for an Eb clarinet.
She is going to be a freshman in college next year on a full music
scholarship and the director wants her to play Eb clarinet.
Apparently the school doesn't have any good ones, so she is going to
be buying one.

First off, I would like any and all advice on brands, set-ups, what to
avoid, what to do, etc. that you can give me, and I know that in this
group, we're all full of advice. :) Also, if anyone has a good used
Eb clarinet for around ~$1500, let me know.

Thanks for your help.
