Klarinet Archive - Posting 000192.txt from 2007/05
From: Sean Osborn <feanor33@-----.net> Subj: [kl] Teacher Map Date: Wed, 23 May 2007 13:38:56 -0400
Dear Klarinetters,
Yesterday, a colleague showed me a 'map' of violin teachers
stretching back to Vivaldi and up to the present day.
I would like to make a map of clarinet teachers, and see where it
leads. Could be fascinating.
For example: My main teachers were:
Frank Kowalsky - student of Hasty, Wright, and Russianoff
Eric Mandat - student of Hasty and others
Charlie Neidich - student of Russianoff and others
and Stanley Hasty
Hasty studied with Rufus Arey (sp?), but I don't know who Arey studied with.
I know many lines in the US will point to Bonade and Bellison. I'd
like to make it international. The British line will be interesting:
Rose, Klose, Lazarus, Langenus. Others also: Baermann, and who knows
- maybe back to Stadler, and earlier.
Does anyone have information to share about this, or places to direct me?
I will assemble the map and post it on my website
Thanks,
Sean Osborn
