Hello all,

I was on the Clarinet.org sight today and see that more information has
now been posted about exhibitors. It looks like So Rhee has worked hard
to make this easier for those exhibitors from outside of Canada. I know
that some on the list have voiced concern over the many Canadian customs
requirements and the fact that they may have to pay import duty fees
just to show up with their goods with no promise of any sales or
profits. Not to mention needing a work permit.

I note that Canadian customs has responded to a request by So Rhee and
provide an official letter (found on the Clarinet.org website) stating
that all imported goods can be brought in temporarily provided that they
are then exported at the end of the convention. The letter also states
that a work permit is not required to display, exhibit, or sell provided
that they are not selling to the general public. It appears that because
this is a private convention closed to the general public, most of the
requirements that have been discussed previously here on the list do not
apply.

I do not know when this information was originally posted on the
Clarinet.org sight, but passing it on to the list can't hurt, even if it
may be a little late for some to help make up their mind about attending
as an exhibitor.

Tom Henson
