To be blunt, Sarah, as is generally the case with your comments,
your ignorance is showing, and you don't know what you are
talking about. Toeplitz' history of the IPO -- which I do not
believe you have read at all -- is as authoritative as a book can
be, and you should be ashamed of yourself for degrading it. He
was there almost before it was the Palestine Symphony and the
book is as historical a document as can be written on the
subject. No one in the world was better equipped than him to
write it. The fact that he was your chamber music teacher at the
Academy gives you no special insight into his writings, or the
Wagner problem. He was miles above you intellectually, musically,
and in menchlichkeit.

If you don't think that the quality of the information I have
given on Wagner is correct, be specific. I don't think you can
because you know nothing about the subject. It was your posting
about what you incorrectly believed to be the real problem that
caused me to withdraw from the field, not to get away from being
exposed by you, but out of realization that any discussion in
which you participate is going to degrade into blather, bad
manners, and polemics quickly.

It is my earnest intention to drop this matter right here, and if
my advice is at all useful, you should do the same.

Dan,
We have seen the quality of the information that you gave us in
the last few days, not very impressive. I knew Uri Toeplitz very
well, he was my chamber music teacher at the Academy. He died
several month ago. Uri told his story , as a player in the
orchestra. It is not an historical document.

Sarah
