With respect to Kevin's comments, copied below, the first time I
ever heard the work, I thought it was the greatest masterpiece
ever composed.

The second time I heard it, I thought it was not that great, but
it was wonderful.

The third time I heard it, I thought it was boring.

The fourth time I heard it, I hated it.

The fifth time I heard it, I said that that would be the last
performance of that piece of trash I ever would stand for. And I
never, never, ever played it again.

My comment to the original question was to say that it is an easy
work to play, sight readable by a blind person, and not worth the
trouble to practice.

I end this with a remark made to me by the great Dutch
musicologist, Marius Flothuis. We were discussing Orff and he
said, "You understand the meaning of the phrase, 'Leck mich in
arsch'"? And I said, "Of course." It's German and means "Kiss my
ass."

Flothuis then said, "Leck mich in Orff!!" It's tough to
translate the meaning of that, but it is a distinct insult to
both Orff and his music. A well deserved insult, I think.

Deborah asked:

<<<How do I get a clarinet part for Carmina Burana to study?
Luck's said
that it is rental only. Is there no other way to get just a
clarinet part?
I am playing it in Amman in June and would like to look at it
before I get
>there.>>>

Dan replied:

<<<You are, of course, doing the right thing by wanting to see
the music
before hand. But the work is exceptionally simple, and can be
done almost
at sight.>>>

It is also, IMHO, simply dreadful. You play *everything* three
times, and
there are licks that you have to play again and again over and
over. Real
Department of Redundancy Department stuff.
