Exactly, it is these that are the difficulty. I was told the same by the
check-in agent at Thomson Air in Luton, but I quoted the regs, he consulted
his boss and it was OK. I was OK on bmibaby also.

later this summer (from the UK) where I need a bass and Eb (in a Wiseman
triple case) and am currently being told there is no way I will be allowed
them as carry on. I flew with a group last weekend within Europe, the
reduced size of carry-on luggage meant that all of the trumpets and the alto
saxophone were too big to carry-on. The bass clarinet had to go as hold
luggage on the outward flight but was allowed on when returning to the UK.
