Yes, you should bring it to a repairman. Even such a simple thing as
putting in a replacement screw can be tricky if the screw is rusted in,
etc. We repairmen know how to deal with this without breaking something
else. If it is ONLY the screw, it might be replaced for free, as log as
it's easy to do so. In the shop I worked in, repairs that took less
time than the paperwork were free. Either way, if it is what you
describe, it is a minimal repair and should be at most, the basic bench
charge. It is even possible that his band teacher may be able to fix
it, if he is a savvy teacher and has the right parts on hand.
