I know what you mean about a harness constraining the position of the instrument.

There are some variations on a neckstrap which might be worth checking out, where the mechanism that holds the instrument is the
same as for a regular neckstrap (no extra constraining straps), but the weight is taken differently.

BG Yoke strap with braces
(The BG Yoke strap - without braces - might be worth trying too, as it spreads the weight differently over the neck/shoulders
compared to a normal strap).

I'm reasonably certain that I've seen at least one other variation on this, where the strap comes back under the arms and across
the chest - similar to the Lebayle but coming across the chest rather than the stomach.

No one has said this explicitly, alhough it has been implied, but you should look at specialist saxophone suppliers for the widest
range of strap variations.
