Well, in that case, I guess you'll have to have someone help you rig up
a rigid harness which will let you hold the bass like a tenor sax. All
the T. Sax harnesses I know of assume that there is a heavy duty thumb
rest so you can control the sax with that. Maybe reshaping the bass's
thumb rest would be a soution. Some old soprano saxes have a complete
ring through which the RH thumb goes. Of course, that would restrict
use of the thumb keys so you might have to re-shape them too. Think
that'd work? Good luck.
