Now that is damning with faint praise. The arrangement of the
Weber Concertino for band "is not too bad." The problem is not
only the arrangement (which is, indeed, very poor) but also with
the fact that the soloist is overpowered by an instrumentation
that is incompatible with the period for which is was written.
And while Fred neither said nor inferred the following, it is a
bad idea to take works from the 18th and early 19th century and
presume that the instrumental alteration to band will not
negatively influence the final effect.

There's a piece by Ralph Hermann called "Clarinet on the Town"
publ. by
C Fischer. The Weber Concertino is often done. I have a student
who is
a Senior who performed it. The arrangement is not too bad.
Contact Simeon Loring (he's a list Lurker). He conducted the
Kingsborough (Community) College Band for decades and knows ALL
this
repertoire. You there, Simeon?
