Since I have been on this list (many years, although I only post when I have
something to say) I have questioned the resistance to subjects that are
directly related to clarinet playing. It seems to me that the discussion of
reeds should never be taboo with clarinetists. Any wisdom about reeds,
ligatures, mouthpieces, literature should be the subjects discussed on this
list and those who want to discuss them should not be criticized. I have
found it very odd indeed that when the subject of reeds comes up, one of the
most important aspects of clarinet playing, that clarinetists (if indeed the
list is made up of people truly wanting to discuss clarinet!) criticize each
other for just bringing up the subject.

How many of you can play on a bad reed? How many of you have some expertise
in working on reeds? I thought that sharing expertise in areas pertinant to
clarinet was the basic premise of this list.
