Can't tell you much about the clarinet, but W.H. Paling was for many years
(one of) the premiere music companies in Australia, and, like so many other
music companies, imported instruments from all over the place and put their
name on them. I don't think this practice was continued by them past about
the sixties or perhaps early seventies. Their name has now disappeared from
the music scene in Oz, having been taken over by other business.

W.H. Paling was a Dutchman who arrived in Australia in 1853, and the
business which bore his name became a nationwide chain of stores, as well as
a music publisher.
