This past weekend I heard a performance of Copland's 3rd
symphony. I was at the world premiere of the work at Carnegie
Hall in NY when it was given its first performance in 1946. I
hated it.

Then I played it about 30 years ago and realized what a simpleton
I was. It was a fabulous work.

I went out of my way to hear this past weekend's performance, and
it's even better than I remembered. Magnificent piece. May you
all get to play it some day.
