I have an Eb bass Sarrusophone (Conn). In the Williamsburgh
Settlement House band (circa 1965-8) several of the double reed
players, at different times, enjoyed playing it as a solo instrument
in the Haydn trumpet Concerto with the band accompaniment. It was
certainly an interesting sound.
