Hi Will.
Yes, you'll need a full boehm clarinet to play those notes.
It's a common problem in contemporary music written in Italy
more or less until 1983, 1984. (some exceptions before and after)
Many Sciarrino's pieces have the same problem. (Let mi die..., lo spazio
inverso)
Berio was not so proud of that piece (original version for clar and
tape, tape
destroyed) and that piece is not really a masterpiece.
Anyway....

1- you can use a full boehm
2- i've seen an american clar player whose name i do not remember now
adding and putting away a tube
after the bell to increase the clarinet length (not really easy) but
it worked.
3- alternative positions? same but using E position instead of Eb.
Sorry to say but i knew Berio and he really didn't care so much of
that piece and of this problem. he only knew that in 1979 most clar
players used in Italy full boehm and used the Eb key. that's it.
