Thanks all for the good wishes! I'm playing 2nd
basset, and while the part is a Kalmus one and seems
in good order (just a few spots towards the end of
mixed clefs/German-style bass clarinet notation) (and
happily all in F!) man does it noodle around the
extended notes a lot. My first attempt at listening
through the opera with the score was...interesting. As
with so much Strauss, there is so much going on, so
many rhythmic layers all at once, that picking out
your part or even in spots sensing the general
pulse(s) is a challenge. Much more score study ahead!

Appreciate the thought about the pit-stop beforehand
