Subj: [kl] Exercise for developing embouchure and air
Date: Thu, 08 Mar 2007 18:16:56 -0500

In my Woodwind techniques class, the professor has us working with a cloth
stuffed into the bell. With all fingers down (what I think you call a long
B or low E), we are supposed to be able to play an arpeggio.

I am really struggling to accomplish this: I can get a really high note (Bb
I think), and the stuffed-sounding low Eb, but nothing in between.

Can anyone shed light on this exercise, whether I've got the correct notes
(really an Be arpeggio?) and any further help on how to accomplish this
exercise? I have definitely noticed a difference and strengthening in my
sound once I pull the cloth out of the bell, but I cannot seem to make the
exercise itself do what it is supposed to.
