Not only is it possible to identify the musician, but the different
styles of that musician. My friends used to quiz me on Benny Goodman,
and 80-90% of the time, I could correctly place a Goodman recording
within three months of its recording date.

Also, just to agree with the others, musicians have a unique quality
to their sound, just as you have a unique quality to your voice, and
the more you play, the more that becomes part of you. Can't you
instantly pick out Django Reinhardt in the first couple bars? There's
something there that nobody can emulate. The closest I've heard is
Bir=E9li Lagr=E8ne. He's fooled me a couple times, but after you listen
to him for a while, you can tell the difference.
