Howard,

I suspect that with the cold, dry winter weather (and the resulting dry
air from heating our houses) your barrel or upper bore (or both) have
shrunk. Try to hydrate the instrument by leaving a damp sponge (inside of a
ziploc bag with pin holes) in the case when you are not playing. You may
also want to temporarily store your Eb in a humid room like your bathroom.
Muncy Winds 1-800-333-6415 sells a handy little case humidity gage for about
$10 that will help you keep track of the humidity in your case. The humidity
should be about 50% if possible.

The barrel may not come back to the original dimension. I am not
familiar enough with Patricola Eb clarinets to know if a standard Buffet
barrel will work. I do know that some players with Patricola clarinets are
using my barrels. I am not attempting to sell you a barrel, I am just
offering a suggestion to try to track down the origin of your problem.
