Hey there,

I love Ferree's Repair tools but I recently wrote them about the L27 arbor
press they used to carry for shrinking bands and tightening loose rings for
repair jobs. Gary Ferree replied to tell me that due to cost and
consideration they are no longer making the L27 arbor press.

That bums me out because I really wanted to order one for my own little
repair corner. You know to do those handy little jobs I already do for
myself, but on a larger scale if only I had an arbor press. Right now I use
the Ferree Tool's H35 which is their smaller hand Joint and Barrel Ring
Shrinking Die and Pressure Plugs, which after a few practices works just
fine. I use a nice wooden or rawhide (or am even thinking of getting the
Canvas hammer that Ferree's now offers) and when I get the rings and or
bands to the right tension around the tenon I just tap it into place and
viola!

But I genuinely feel that the L27 would be a nice instrument to have as I
really am having a problem with those pesky bands around the base of the
bell coming loose, and glue or epoxy to me just isn't the answer. Ferree
makes a die with which to properly clamp down evenly all around the ring,
applying equal pressure from the force of the l27 arbor, but sadly they
don't make the L27 arbor press anymore, and I was wondering if there is
anyone out there who might have one that they might want to sell to me, or
know where I might get my hands on one, other than E-Bay, or if any of the
Arbor Presses being sold by Northern Tool (www.northerntool.com and then
such do a search for "arbor") would sufficiently replace the L27.

I wrote to Gary himself asking this question, but he never answered,
understandably so, because Northern Tool being a competitor and his not
wanting to share his business with them.

But I would be appreciative of any support or support from any on the list
who might offer theirs. Thank you.
