A thought, The Amish Country *isn't* (and I imply that by meaning miles)
that far from Baltimore, give or take, its actually closer to Philly of
course, but in the heart of Baltimore is the Peabody Conservatory's own
bookstore, they are really fairly priced, they do not have a website that I
know of, but the store is directly adjacent to the South Side of the
Conservatory on Centre Street, more or less in the middle of the block,
close to Ted's Music, another decent music Store in Baltimore, though higher
priced.

If you need directions just email me.

Subject: [kl] One Stop Shopping?

I live in Amish country. We have no music stores here. I have to drive a
half hour minimum every time I want to buy something, and so do my students,
so generally we save money by my buying online at places where I can get
free shipping. I use Weiner's a lot when it comes to reeds....but they
don't carry a lot of music I use for teaching.

Is there any place online where I can buy music *and* reeds for more than
one
woodwind instrument? I'd like to consolidate everything so I am not paying
3 different shipping charges.....

Pepper's pretty much always wins for cheapest music, but they charge @$10
for shipping, and they don't sell reeds. Music 123 and Muncy don't sell
sheet music (at least not what I need). Sheet Music Plus doesn't sell
reeds. Sam Ash and Amazon sell reeds and sheet music, but not what I need
this week - I wanted some of those Rico Reserve for the kids, which they
don't have, and also they don't have some of the books I need.

The thing I need to buy right now that is causing the problem is the
Taffanel/Gaubert flute exercise book, which is Leduc, and therefore
expensive to begin with. Pepper's wants $24 for it and they usually charge
$10 shipping. Everyone else wants at least $37 for it, I've seen it as
high as $45. That's a big difference!

Cedarmusic.com actually has it cheaper, for $22.75, with $7 shipping. But
it's for a kid from a family with 7 kids, and that's asking a lot for one
book - so I've
even been looking for a used one. Found a couple on eBay, but every time
I've bid, they go for almost as much as a new one (with the shipping). I
have a lot of students whose families don't have a lot of money, so every
little bit helps.

If anyone has any good ideas as to where I can get everything all in one
place and not get ripped off on one thing or another, please let me know!
Thanks!

Lynn
