I'm REAL new to reed adjustment: I played a show last September and sat next
to the oboe/english horn player who was continuously adjusting his reeds,
and he showed me some basics and gave me one of his old reed knives.
Even so, I've found that it isn't that difficult to fix some of these
problems. I find even just holding the reed up to the light and shaving the
thickness so it is more or less symmetrical solves a lot of the problems.
The upper sides of the reed affect a lot of the higher notes.
I'm sure people on this list can give you more detailed suggestions!
