Ted Casher here. Take the Rovner clarinet ligature and give it away to some
student you don't like! Get on EBay, find the ad for the Oleg being sold at
discount, and send in the $22 via PayPal---or get an Optimum and use the
plate with the 4 dots.
The Rovner takes away all the higher overtones from the sound. It also
slips, stretches, and manages to keep itself insecure around the mpce.
I tried them on clar, alto, and tenor----some appliances don't work!
All reeds need adjustment. I use #600 Wet-or Dry sandpaper and the nearest
window! First I wet the reed, then I blow through the butt end until I see
bubbles, then I rub the reed against the window. I then give the reed 2-3
swipes across the back w/the sandpaper, then---without further wetting---put
it on the mpce. Most of the reeds become super-buzzers.
Good luck with your quest.....TC
