Am thinking about Lohengrin... will let you know.

Anyway the barrels arrived safely, many thanks. They all succeed in
flattening suitably especially in conjunction with mid-joint rings, and I
found a very good make of these from Muncy Winds. At the moment I think the
straight .586/.586 is the best all round but I am dithering over the .584.
the reverse taper one is not so successful funnily enough, it makes it
somewhat stuffier and the intonation is not better. But with the .586 and
tuning rings I can make the intonation pretty consistently 20 cents flat,
which will probably be spot on in the summer heat!

Steve Fox corrected my physics <blush>. Altitude has not effect on
intonation since the effects of density and pressure cancel, and they are
linearly related. There will be an effect of temperature though, and this is
likely the thing.

Now I know altitude in itself has no effect, I shall probably play in tune
anyway!

Will evaluate for a while then send two of them back with a check. We didn't
agree a price. $150 ??

Dan's horn has arrived and is nice (though not as well regulated as mine!!).
It has started moving in the Santa Fe climate of course, so I will give it a
good regulation after a few weeks at home.

Cheers,

Keith

You, my friend....are a lucky man. Barrels in the FedEx tomorrow morning.
Come see Lohengrin. Maybe Saturday Feb. 24 or the Wed before? I'll get
tickets and you are always welcome!!!
