If the instrument is in great shape, then it is most likely worth it.
You have played it and not us though so it will be your impression of it
that matters. A question: Do you feel comfortable paying that for it?

I paid $5200 for mine 1.5 years ago and I consider that a deal. Mine
isn't a model 37, apparently it is a model 25/11 or some such. It is
still a fine instrument and plays well. The model 37 I had in college
was a better instrument in my humble opinion.(as I don thermally
protective vestments for that little comment) and wouldn't mind swapping
them when I have the financial position to do so.

Play it. The play it some more. Then ask someone whose aural opinion
you trust to listen to you play it. Then put it away for a fews days
and play it again. Conceptions change over time and your ears
impressions may be different later on. Also, try to be consistent about
your MP, ligature, and reed setup.

Hope that helps,

Steve White
