That's why I just leave the tape in - seems to hold up (I use mostly plastic
electrical tape which doesn't mind moisture) and I can take it out anytime
something else changes. But I must be thinking of something different from
the shoe wax you're using. The stuff I use on my shoes gets crumbly when it
dries out - maybe that's not really wax?

I really don't like the idea of epoxy. I use the wax as a permanent
restoration. I know many repair guys that use this method as well. It stays
and stays and stays....and if you need to change it (maybe changes in barrel
or mouthpiece change tuning)...it's easy.
