Forrest, I'm curious. What is accomplished, if Gary has already experimented
with tape in the holes and found it improved things, by next doing what
sounds like the same experiment with shoe polish before actually starting to
build epoxy into the hole?

I have to confess, I've used tape to do this and just left the tape in place
once I got the pitch where I wanted it. I guess there's the possibility of
attracting dust around the edges of the tape, but I never noticed a problem,
and the tape stayed put for years. I remember Tony Pay suggesting "bluetack"
for this (because I had to ask what it was), but I think I remember that he
used it to see if the result was what he wanted before replacing it with
something more permanent.

Gary,

Before the more lasting fix, use a good wax shoe polish to "build up" and
position your changes. You can mold and position the wax easily and it stays
put for the testing. It's easy to remove and clean up before using the epoxy
is easy. Use thin, tight latex gloves to keep your hands clean.
