I still have fond memories of taking part in a performance of Amahl
and the Night Visitors as a teenager over 40 years ago. Menotti's
music struck me then as delightfully inventive, and I was surprised
it wasn't better known. As is the way of the world, perhaps people
will become more aware of it now he has died. Let's hope so.
