Thanks Dan,

I am an ex-music library assistant, so not quite a librarian, but fairly up
to knowing where to look! ;-) Suggestions are always welcome though, as it
is easy to forget various sources.

I have looked on JSTOR, but unfortunatley it doesn't have these articles, or
at least not that I have been able to locate. This may be because of the
limitations of the University's subscription, I am not sure.

Dr James Gillespie has been very helpful and I have been able to get another
article I was interested and have ordered another couple of Back Issues of
The Clarinet, but unfortunately he wasn't able to help on the issue below,
perhaps because of the age of the article.

I am based in the UK, so I think this may limit interlibrary loans, but it
is worth a try! Thanks, I hadn't thought to look on the OCLC World Cat. I
had luck with that with something else I was looking for, so I will a look.

Lorraine

An examination of OCLC World Cat (and you should be able to do
this in your local library or online yourself) will bring to your
attention more than 50 libraries in the US that own Woodwind
Magazine. You should request a copy of the particular article
that interests you directly from the interlibrary loan desk of
your local library. Even if you live in a tiny town, they should
be aware of and have access to this service. This is standard
library usage and procedure.

As far as The Clarinet, it seems to me that your best course of
action would be to contact the editor of the contemporary
magazine called "The Clarinet" in Denton, TX. He has been
editing it for many years. His name is on the masthead of the
current clarinet magazine. I suspect, but do not know, that the
issue of the Clarinet that you want, is from the old magazine,
"Clarinet" and the current editor may be able to direct you
further.

Finally this. There is a fee service called JSTOR and if you live
near a BIG library such as at a University, you should be able to
have access to that capability. They have access to almost every
magazine article ever printed by anyone, anywhere.

If you are affiliated with a university, the students and staff
of that university may offer free acces to JSTOR.

When in doubt, marry a librarian, better marry a music librarian.

Hi,

I am hoping there will be someone out there with a lovely archive
of old
clarinet and woodwind magazines. I am looking for copies of the
following
articles for my research for my dissertation.

Cerminara, Napoleon "Ernesto Cavallini" The Clarinet No. 25
(Winter
1956-7) pp 20 - 22

Tenney, Wallace R "Ernesto Cavallini, Paganini of the Clarinet"
Woodwind
Magazine Vol.2 No. 4 (December 1949) pp 7 - 10

If anyone could send me copies of these it would be very much
appreciated,
either in electronic format or by post. I would be happy to pay
postage
costs.

With many thanks,

Lorraine
