Oliver, you are going to need the Bach equivalent of an opus
number. They use the BWV notation (Bach Werke Vercheisness or
catalog of Bach's works) followed by number representing that
piece in the BWV catalog. It's like the Koechel catalog but with
a different name.

You are correct to want the proper designation and it may involve
you find a BWV catalog in a nearby quality library and asking for
help on how to use it, unless of course, there is a Bach
specialist on this list.

Subject: [kl] A Bach question.

The "Andante from Six Sonatas" by C.P.E. Bach for wind quintet
can be
found in a collection edited by Himie Voxman but I am unable to
find
an opus number so as to be able definitively to identify it on my
Web
site. I am embarrased to say that for a couple of years I had
identified it as having been composed by J.S. Bach, an error only
recently corrected. The original piece is probably hidden
somewhere
on Pierre Schwob's site, but in playing various Andantes from the
collection of sonatas shown there I still can't make a
connection.

Can someone here give me a lead to the correct identification?

Here is a link to the MIDI file:

Many thanks,

Oliver
