Tom, I have not done the transposition, but presumed that Richard
had. Recognizing the fact that the alto is in E-flat and basset
horn in F, what is the pitch equivalent of the lowest note on an
alto clarinet when played on a basset horn; i.e., the same pitch?
According to Tom, that note (a written low e-flat)is the pitch
equivalent of a low d-flat on the basset horn. I never checked
his statement for accuracy. Are you saying that he is not
correct? If he is not, then I should have chastised him more
harshly. If he is, then you get the cream pie in the face!

Relax Mr. Leeson.......It is reasonable to infer from what you
wrote,
'One is obliged to have available the alto clarinet equivalent of
a low
C, D-flat, and D
as heard on a basset horn in F.', that the alto clarinet had
none of
the 3 notes...............
