To be accurate, I couldn't tell if the mouthpiece was an alto clarinet =
mouthpiece or something else at about the same size. But I didn't want =
to play an instrument with a bore that big. The basset horn has a very =
reserved, meloncholy, and timid sound. On the large bore basset horns =
that I have played, the sound is too close to that of an alto clarinet =
and that is not the character I was interested in playing. =20

Do they? I thought they required a wider-bore mouthpiece, but something
along the lines of a 10-10 bore, not alto clarinet.
