At first, I was thinking about responding to this posting. But it
is so cockeyed and wrongheaded, so technically fallacious, so
completely unaware of the fallacies that it suggests, that I've
decided to leave it alone and let the author sink.

sure, but that tells exactly how little even clarinettists know
about basset
horns.
I believe everybody should have at least one basset horn, but
yours is
indeed specialised. Honestly, I asked myself, who needs a modern
system
(and, of all things, Boehm) basset horn? There is indeed very
little and not
very rewarding repertoire for that. Very few serious players
today would
play Mozart on an ahistoric horn with all the correct forked
fingerings
missing, tons of useless keywork and without a proper period
model (Lotz...)
it was copied from etc., so I think that's why people don't tear
this thing
from your hands. This might sound a bit provocative considering
that you, a
major Mozart and BH expert, obviously played on this instrument
for years
and consider it the best available horn. Maybe you could take the
occasion
of pointing out in how far or why those "period" instruments are
no
alternative for you.
Besides, I am sure it is an extremely well-made instrument.
