Most clarinet players, I'd imagine. The number of people trained in
German system remains a minority and the number of performance
opportunities with modern-instrument ensembles far outweighs those in
period-instrument groups.
Incidentally, there is an increasing modern repertoire for the
instrument (Stockhausen, Ligeti, etc.).
If I wasn't broke right now, the current exchange rate would make Dan's
basset horn a very attractive proposition. :-)
