Subj: [kl] Library of Congress concert on Dec. 7
Date: Sat, 09 Dec 2006 09:52:12 -0500

Just back from Washington where I had the genuine pleasure of
hearing the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform both
the E-flat octet, K. 371, and the Gran Partitta, K. 361/370a on
Thursday night, Dec. 7. It's a wonderful group of very fine
individual players, each of whom makes him/herself subordinate to
the performance. The instruments are all period (though in modern
replicas). I was hoping to see some of the members of the
Klarinet group there either during my talk, which preceded the
concert, or at the concert. Some probably were there but no one
identified themselves to me, so I don't know whom might have been
there.
