If you want to know the definition of "chutzpah" talk to Tony
Pay.

He and I have been going over some of the details for the program
at the Library of Congress next week. And for the first time I
was given exactly what is going to be played following my talk in
the Whittall Pavillion.

The groups starts with K. 375 (à 8). Then they play K. 361. In
between the two they will do some basset horn trios (of Stadler,
I think) and finally the magnificent K. 410 for two basset horns
and bassoon, though they may do it with three basset horns, a
combination that works exceptionally well.

But I think that anyone who is going to do 375 and 361 on the
same program is looking for a death wish. Either one is a killer.
The combination of them is big bite of the musical apple.

That is genuine, first-class, number 1 CHUTZPAH!! I shall be
there to bring cold compresses to the performers achining lips.
Ambulances will be standing by. The president intends to visit
the exhausted players following the concert, giving medals here
and there to brave basset hornists.
