I agree, and if anyone knows Bill's Music in Catonsville, talk about
impersonal, ugh! And yet it is always packed and busy. The guitar section
is always on fire. The sad thing is that no where in Baltimore can you find
a decent woodwind supplier, a good tech -- sure! But open retailer, no!

Just have to add my two cents....I have dealt with WWBW for
years. Sometimes the experiences were good and sometimes not. In the end
though, they always came around to my way of thinking and I got what I
wanted. This latest news might answer why I received (in late October)
just one pair of finger cymbals in a "two sets" order that I placed in
September. I just got the other pair two weeks ago.

Some might ask why I would continue to deal with them after more than one
or two bad experiences. Well, their prices were always the best. Nobody
beat them - not Levin's, Weiner's or Muncy. I live not thirty miles from
Levin's. They are not a catalog store. It is an all-day ordeal to go
there. The place is jammed, parking is dicey and worst of all, one must
deal with the dreaded D.C. beltway (unless one chooses to go 'round Robin
Hood's barn). Weiner's is too impersonal. When I call, I get left on hold
forever and they always seem to make a mistake with my orders done on-line
(one time they sent me an order that I didn't make). And then there was
the time I wanted to rent a bass clarinet for a performance (six months in
advance, no less) and was told they didn't have any instruments
available. I had a professional friend call later that same day, and he
rented the thing in no time and had it a week later. I love Muncy, but
unless I am dealing in clarinets or saxes, they can't supply what I need (
high end flutes, oboes, etc.). Their service is excellent and when I need
just clarinet and/or sax stuff I always buy from them. WWBW was the one
place to go that had it all though. And most of the time they got it right.

Life has bumps. If I trip along the way over the bumps, well I just get up
and keep going (unless, of course, something breaks....a.k.a. unplayable
clarinets). I am sorry to see this happen to them.
